"From the outset of the normalization process, China-U.S. relations have always been based on the common understanding that both sides recognize and respect each others different social system," said Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee.
"The root cause is that some American politicians who are biased against and hostile to China are using their power to smear China with fabrications and impede normal ties with China under various pretexts," said Wang, pointing out that such American politicians ultimately want to drag China and the United States into renewed conflict and confrontation and plunge the world into chaos and division again.
China, he added, stands ready to continue to promote cooperation in vaccine research and development, use and production with Malaysia, and to strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation in such multilateral arenas as East Asia cooperation, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the World Health Organization to push for the building of a community of health for all.
For his part, Hishammuddin said that Malaysia attaches great importance to the robust relations with China and that their bilateral cooperation goes beyond geopolitics.
Concrete steps must be taken by the United States to bring its relations with China back on track.
"The development of humankind is a progress of mutual learning and assimilation. Each country is quite different with its own history, culture and advantage. We have to learn from history, respect and learn from each other and promote exchanges and cooperation, so as to achieve common development and progress," he said.
"With the joint efforts of the two sides, we hope to take the relationship back to the right track despite current disturbances and difficulties. This is the best way to honor General Scowcroft," it said.
"Today we are in the 21st century. Why should we allow history to repeat? Why should we repeat what happened in the last century when we are faced with so many new challenges, global challenges? I dont think a new cold war would serve anybodys interests or will give us any solution to the problem," Cui said, responding to a question on the recent speech on China by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the Nixon Library.
He urged the United States to rectify its wrongdoing, create conditions for the normal trade and economic cooperation between companies from different countries and restore a free, open and safe cyberspace to the world.
