He believed that cultural exchange between the two countries has yielded fruitful results over the past years.

However, in face of the U.S. abuse of power, the UN has tried to communicate, but rarely succeeded in persuading Uncle Sam to change its problematic policies.

The Global Consensus Statement story

Yang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said that a sound and stable China-U.S. relationship affects the well-being of China, the United States and the world at large.

Given profound changes in the world, it is a shared responsibility for all countries to maintain peace and promote development. Developing China-U.S. relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability is vital to the world.

The past 41 years has not all been smooth sailing for China-U.S. relations, Yang said, noting there have been ups and downs and even major setbacks on the way. "However, the two countries have always approached their relationship from a historical perspective and with the bigger picture in mind."

I managed to stay calm despite the de-facto expulsion order and recorded the meeting carefully, knowing that my term in the Xinhua office at the UN may come to an abrupt end.

"These tariffs will raise costs for American manufacturers, are opposed by most U.S. aluminum producers, and will draw retaliation against U.S. exports -- just as they did before," Myron Brilliant, the U.S. Chamber of Commerces executive vice president, said in a statement.
Isnt the U.S. order an irony of the press freedom enshrined in the U.S. Constitution, she said. She also suggested that Chinese journalists seek help from the UN Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit and the UN Correspondents Association.
Malaysia, he added, fully agrees with China to actively carry out vaccine cooperation, establish a "fast lane" and a "green lane" at an early date, explore ways to jointly ensure supply chain security and send a positive signal of unity and cooperation between the two countries.
"In the meantime, we should really work together to maintain stability of the region, and all of these sea lanes are extremely important for the Chinese economy. A large portion of our imports and exports have to go through these sea lanes," he said. "So we really have high stakes in the safety and security of navigation. So if these things are left to the countries concerned to work out, the situation would be much better."
BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi said on Friday that what has happened shows that no obstacle is insurmountable for China and the United States, and the key lies in a true commitment to mutual respect, equality and seeking common ground while shelving differences.
"Cooperation between China and the United States has always been conducted for mutual benefit," he said, adding the two countries have had productive cooperation in such areas as counter-terrorism, non-proliferation and narcotics control, among others.
"They must seek dialogue, especially between two great world powers, respecting their fundamental interests," said Carrion.

John W. Allen, former vice chairman of the United Nations (UN) Business Council, told Xinhua that he applauds the mutual success that has occurred for the two countries over the past 41 years, and is distressed by the negative language being used to describe China in the U.S. press.
As COVID-19 takes its toll on the global economy, China and the United States, the worlds two largest economies, should work for mutual benefit on an equal footing, stop attempts at decoupling and advance the relationship through cooperation, and live up to their responsibility for the world, said Wang. The Chinese Consulate-General in Houston was the first consulate-general opened by China in the United States after the establishment of the diplomatic ties, and it was always an important symbol of China-U.S. friendship, Wang said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
"The attempt by the United States to create a New Cold War trap and to form cliques to contain China will not succeed, nor will it be in anyones interest," the Chinese Embassy stressed. "We advise some U.S. politicians to stop spreading political viruses, stop slandering China with words and deeds, and stop interfering in Chinas internal affairs."
On June 1, the country released a master plan for constructing a free trade port on Hainan, a resort island with tourism as a mainstay industry, arousing interest both abroad and at home. Enditem
Given its failure to tackle the COVID-19 health crisis, the Trump administration also tried to shift blame on the World Health Organization and pulled the United States out of the UN body.
"The Taiwan question concerns Chinas sovereignty, territorial integrity and core interests. China has firm resolve in upholding its sovereignty and security," said Wang.

"After establishment of diplomatic ties, and thanks to concerted efforts on both sides, China-U.S. relations have made historic progress despite ups and downs along the way," he said.
The harder some U.S. politicians try to sever the strong bond between the CPC and the Chinese people, the greater indignation they will arouse among the Chinese people, he said.
A similar executive order has also been issued for WeChat, a messaging and social media app owned by Chinese tech giant Tencent.
"I believe there are sectors in the United States that are very concerned about Chinas growth and competitiveness in various fields," said the diplomat.
