The NDMA chairman said China not only helped Pakistan battle the pandemic, but also assisted the country in fighting the locust swarms by providing pesticide and related equipment.
Stating that China firmly rejects and condemns the U.S. governments so-called sanctions against Chinese officials, Zhao stressed that the U.S. behavior openly meddles with Hong Kong affairs, blatantly interferes in Chinas internal affairs, and gravely violates international law and basic norms governing international relations.
BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi said on Friday that China and the United States should assume a strategic height and long-term perspective and keep their relations in the right direction with a sense of responsibility for history and the people.
"I myself was involved in dealing with many of the issues in Asia. I know China and all our neighbors just want to have normal, stable, friendly and mutually beneficial relations," Cui said in an online interview when he was attending the 2020 Aspen Security Forum on Aug. 4.
"The erroneous words and moves by the U.S. Administration constituted interference in Chinas internal affairs. They undermined Chinas interests and seriously disrupted China-U.S. relations, putting the relationship in a most complex and grave situation since the establishment of diplomatic ties," said Yang.
China, he added, stands ready to continue to promote cooperation in vaccine research and development, use and production with Malaysia, and to strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation in such multilateral arenas as East Asia cooperation, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the World Health Organization to push for the building of a community of health for all.
The United States should honor the principle of sovereign equality enshrined in the UN Charter, learn how to get along with different systems and civilizations and adapt itself to peaceful coexistence, and accept the reality that the world is moving toward multipolarity, said Wang.
"It is neither necessary nor possible for the two sides to change each other. Instead, we should respect the choice independently made by the people of the other side," he said.
The construction of the 1,000-km railway started in Dec. 2016, which is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2021.
The Security Council on Wednesday heard briefings from the UN Secretariat on the current situation in Kashmir and the work of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan, said the spokesperson.
