Now, the ball is in the U.S. court. For the interests of both China and the United States, as well as those of the wider world, China is always ready to work with the U.S. side to boost bilateral ties on the basis of coordination, cooperation and stability, and to maintain global peace and prosperity.
As a permanent member of the Security Council, the United States, however, defying mainstream values, has clashed with many nations on issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, climate change, and the Iran nuclear deal, among others.
Given profound changes in the world, it is a shared responsibility for all countries to maintain peace and promote development. Developing China-U.S. relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability is vital to the world.

In response, the Chinese mission said "Hong Kong is a region based on the rule of law," stressing that "the Law of the Peoples Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has clear provisions on respect for and protection of human rights, and protection of rights and freedoms including freedom of speech and the press."
They have also realized their long-term calculation to use Hong Kong for infiltration and subversion activities against the Chinese mainland so as to contain the development of China will come to nothing, the spokesperson added.
Dan Coats, a former U.S. senator from Indiana, wrote in an opinion published by The Washington Post that all this has many observers -- even in the White House -- speaking of a new "Cold War" between the United States and China.
BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- When talking about his work at the Central Intelligence Agency, the former director Mike Pompeo has never been that honest: "We lied, we cheated, we stole ... It reminds you of the glory of the American experiment."
